Installing the New Luna Pro for Windows

The latest update to Luna Pro for Windows brings a range of exciting new features and improvements to this popular digital audio workstation (DAW). In this article, we'll explore the key updates and changes that users can expect from this release.

One of the most significant changes is the addition of license information for UAD-2 plug-ins. This means that Luna Pro can now access and manage these plug-ins when Apollo Interface Software is installed. Additionally, a number of issues have been resolved, including one that caused owned UAD-2 plug-ins to appear in the Inactive folder.

The update also addresses several other bugs and glitches, such as an issue that prevented the use of the Tap Tempo button and another that could prevent sidechain connections from restoring correctly after reopening a session. Furthermore, erratic performance of knobs on MCU surfaces has been resolved.

In terms of new features, the ATR-102 Luna Extension default preset has been improved to provide a cleaner starting point when importing mixed tracks into Luna. This should make it easier for producers and engineers to get started with their projects.

The update also includes several usability improvements, such as the ability to scroll the timeline by the visible area using the Page Up and Page Down keys. The Markers ruler can now be expanded, making it easier for performers to see song structure changes as they approach.

Users will also appreciate the addition of precise dB value entry, which allows them to double-click on gain knobs to enter a specific value. Additionally, the gain dB Value is now displayed while adjusting, making it easier to fine-tune audio levels.

Other new features include the ability to choose from standard buffer sizes ranging from 32 to 2048 samples, as well as the option to deactivate tracks and free up CPU, DSP, and memory usage related to channel processing. This can be done by right-clicking on a track name and choosing 'Deactivate'.

Finally, the update includes several other fixes and improvements, including one that resolved an issue with the FOLD feature and another that prevented the Control Room section from updating correctly for Apollo interfaces.

To get the latest version of Luna Pro, users simply need to choose 'Check For Updates' under the LUNA menu in any previous version of Luna. Note that Luna Recording System is currently only available for macOS, but a Windows version is expected soon.
